Why should all women visit Costa Rica?
Costa Rica has been a favorite destination amongst travelers for decades. This small Central American country is home to 5% of the entire world's biodiversity. The nature here will truly blow your mind. Women who visit Costa Rica may come because of the world famous beaches but there is so much more to explore and love about this amazing country. I truly believe that every woman should visit Costa Rica at least once in their life. Let me tell you why.
Here are the top five reasons why every woman should visit Costa Rica.
5. Visiting Costa Rica is Safe!
There are tons of women who visit Costa Rica as solo travelers. Without knowing any better, people may think that Costa Rica is a dangerous destination to visit. However, it attracts tons of solo women travelers because of how safe it truly is.
Costa Rica ranks among the top 10 safest countries in the world to visit. They even don't have a military because it truly isn't needed.
The tourism industry plays a vital role in Costa Rica's overall economy because of this the government has invested heavily in protecting the visitors who choose to travel here. This a great example of how governments can get involved to help increase the positive impact on their country through supporting positive tourism. This ripple effect has made Costa Rica more attractive and safer to visit than other Central American destinations.
4. Pura Vida - Pure Life & Happiness
Costa Ricans are one of the happiest people in the world because of their "Pura Vida" mindset.
Pura Vida is more than just a phrase to Costa Ricans, it's a way of life. Pura Vida directly translated means "Pure Life" but the way of life is a belief that life is good and that good things will come to you. When visiting Costa Rica you will hear the locals constantly saying "pura vida" in their regular exchanges.
As women, we can easily get lost in the hustle of our lives and get trapped in a mundane routine that is not bringing us joy. Visiting Costa Rica will teach you a lot about how to life an intentional life and enjoy the beautiful moments that we are given. You can learn a lot from the laid back mindset of one of the happiest countries on earth.
You can start your own journey to slow down and find inner peace at one of Costa Rica's many yoga and meditation retreat centers which are known for being some of the best worldwide. There are some incredible yoga retreat centers, like the luxury Bohdi Tree or woman owned Yoga Maya, that can help you find your own sense of Pura Vida.
3. Adventure Activities
Speaking of getting out of your mundane routine, what better way to do that than by kicking up your adrenaline?
Women who visit Costa Rica can truly have the best of both worlds. There are plenty of magical places to slow down and find your source of true happiness, but this country is also famous for its adventure activities. You could go zip lining through the jungle, white water rafting on the famous Pacuare River, waterfall rappelling, and more.
Adventure activities are a great way to force yourself out of your comfort zone and see what you are truly capable of. At Cherish, we believe that women discover the most about themselves on the other side of their comfort zones.
2. The Natural Beauty & Wildlife
I can't make a list of reasons why women should visit Costa Rica and not include the beaches. I know I said there is much more to Costa Rica than beaches, and there is, but the beaches are 100% worth visiting when taking a trip here.
Some of my favorite beaches in Costa Rica are: Playa Negra a black sand beach on the Caribbean Coast, Playa Conchal a stunning white sand beach in Guanacaste, Ostional Beach which is one of the best to see sea turtles, Jaco Beach which is one of Costa Rica's most popular beaches, and Punta Uva a perfect spot for spotting wild life, kayaking, or relaxing on the sand.
But beyond beaches, Costa Rica has some incredible lush and beautiful nature that is truly captivating. There are tropical rainforests to explore, active volcanoes, waterfalls, and more.
While exploring through these gorgeous natural landscapes you will also find an abundance of wildlife. A crowd favorite is the cute little sloths. But did you know that there are actually two different kinds of sloths? The two-toed sloth and the three toed sloth. The ones you most often see in photos are the three toed sloths. But, you can find both in Costa Rica.
One thing is for sure, you will definitely not be short of finding stunning natural beauty all around you.
1. Costa Rica's Women
The strength and beauty of a country are most often found in its people and their commitment to creating a beautiful way of life for their communities. That is one thing that I've found most captivating while visiting Costa Rica over the last few years. The women who live in this country truly live in a mindset of "how can I help my community". This aligns so beautifully with what we represent and believe at Cherish Tours.
Even the history of women in Costa Rica is fascinating. Historically, feminine power was lifted up and idolized throughout the country. It wasn't until the Spanish arrived in Costa Rica that women suddenly were looked at as inferior. The Spanish visited Costa Rica mainly for its chocolate, chocolate was not just a delicious snack it was looked at as a religion. The knowledge of chocolate and its power was passed down through women.
Today, you can still participate in chocolate ceremonies in Costa Rica to learn more about its feminine history. This moving experience is something I recommend for every woman traveler.
